Other Coach Evaluation

Chelsey has very natural instincts on the softball field. Her ability to hit for average is her primary tool at this time. She can hit the ball to all fields, and hit movement. I’ve seen her as an 8th grader step onto college showcases and perform with the bat. She will be ready for the summer showcase season as a 9th grader this year, with experience under her belt already. She is trying to find the balance of trying to hit for average and hit for power. She’s got HRs and doubles power, she just has to learn to find her normal stroke in game situations, and not give in just to hit for average too much. Chelsey is an average runner, and with the right work could benefit from quicker acceleration. Chelsey’s arm strength is 62 MPH overhand. She does get a lot out of her 62 MPH because she puts good, pure back spin on the softball, so it carries straight and to it’s fullest potential. In the past year, I’ve seen Chelsey switch positions a few times for her coaches, and now that she is starting to settle in, she’ll be able to begin making the more athletic plays on the infield. She’s got good instincts and fundamentals on routine plays. Right now, I’m pushing her to add on to her arsenal of routine plays. She has done an outstanding job recently of adding to her skill set defensively. She expects herself to make every play, and is spending valuable time right now learning how to make a wide variety of plays. Hands are soft and she’s good on picking up short hops.

Scouting Report

Chelsey Wall is an amazing young Softball Athlete. As a 2012 Graduate, she has the potential and ability to become a promising College Softball Athlete. She can play any position on the field, always with vocal leadership. As an infielder, she has good lateral movement, strong arm, and solid glove to make big plays with ease. Though not her primary position, behind the plate she looks very comfortable and confident and has a 1.92 pop time to 2nd base. Chelsey's OF play is very solid using her smart field placement and great arm to aid in her team's defensive needs. Going on 3 years now, Chelsey spends hours a week with her hitting and fielding coach, Mark Mulvany, and as a young hitter she has developed good contact, bats speed and power - all with a productive average. Chelsey loves the game of softball, but hustles and produces the same results in her Classroom work as well, holding down a 4.0 GPA. Coaches, Chelsey is a promising young Softball Player, and with time and hard work she will become a tremendous Collegiate Softball Athlete. Thanks for taking time to view Chelsey's Profile.
